4 Tips for Surviving Cold & Flu Season with Invisalign

As winter approaches, it can be fun to drink hot chocolate and stay cozy in warm blankets. Unfortunately, along with the decrease in temperature can come an increase in sickness.  Extra care should be given to protect yourself from germs, especially for those who are straightening their teeth with Invisalign. Since the treatment involves removing your aligners from your mouth every time you eat or drink something (other than water), it’s wise to take precautions to keep yourself healthy during the flu and cold season. Read on for four helpful tips!

Tip #1: Drink Plenty of Water

While it’s common knowledge how important drinking water is to maintain good health, it’s especially important to stay hydrated during cold and flu season. When you’re sick and have a stuffy nose, you tend to breathe more through your mouth, drying out your mouth. How does that affect your dental health?  A lack of saliva leaves your mouth vulnerable to harmful bacteria that cause cavities. Treating tooth decay could delay your journey to straighter teeth. By drinking extra water, you can lower your risk of cavities and keep your oral health in its best shape.

Tip #2: Wash Your Hands
